Core Benefits

The U-ParkIt NA system’s product versatility ensures it can meet a variety of customer requirements through innovation and strategic planning. The key features that make the U-ParkIt NA system so appealing:

  • Space Efficient
U-ParkIt can save up to 60% of the space needed for a conventional car park building, while parking the same number of cars.
  • Environmentally Friendly
U-ParkIt system significantly reduces pollution. Cars are turned off as soon as they enter the system.
  • Cost Effective
U-ParkIt can park up to three times the number of cars that can be parked on a conventional car lot.
  • Safe and Secure
Cars can only be retrieved by those with appropriate authorization.
  • Maintenance Friendly
U-ParkIt uses interchangeable electromechanical motors giving it a significant advantage on competitive systems that use hydraulics.
  • Time Efficient
Patrons no longer have to waste time looking for an empty parking space.
  • Modular / Portable
All cells are built to specific dimensions capable of being expanded for the addition of more car parks as required. U-ParkIt is built using a robust steel modular construction frame that can be dismantled and relocated.

The implications of these key features are immediate and quickly date the cumbersome method of concrete structures. The benefits of using a U-ParkIt NA system against this conventional method showcase the demand for this emerging technology.

Safe & Secure

safe and secure parking garageDecreased Search Time for Parking

By minimizing the search for parking, U-ParkIt NA helps to reduce city center congestion, air pollution and fuel consumption.

More Secure Than Standard Parking Structures

In both the public and private sector the issue of security has come to the forefront of everyday life. Providing a safe and secure facility for automobiles is becoming an issue for all building owners. U-ParkIt NA can provide a transfer area from the street or building to the automated parking facility that can be equipped with the latest technology to scan an automobile for the highest level of security. This is an advantage for both existing government facilities as well as new buildings.

Cost Savings

Reduced Overhead and Operating Costs

U-ParkIt NA provides a fully automated system, twenty-four hours a day – without the need for any staff.

Reduced Maintenance Costs

In terms of resource consumption, the U-ParkIt NA system employs interchangeable electromechanical motors, giving it a huge advantage over competitive systems that run on hydraulics. Major drawbacks of hydraulic systems vis-à-vis electromechanical motors include greater heat generation, higher emissions of hazardous airborne oil particles, greater noise in operation, higher risk of valve failure and greater wear on parts.

The U-ParkIt NA system has also been designed with special drip trays underneath each vehicle that have an absorbent foam insert that is capable of catching any damaging fluids that may fall from underneath a vehicle (such as coolant or oil based lubricants). This ensures any waste products are disposed of in an acceptable manner and protects the integrity of any vehicles parked below.

Space & Time Savings

Reduced Parking Structure Footprint

U-ParkIt NA systems use significantly less footprint than conventional parking solutions. Depending on configuration, savings of over 40% in land footprint and over 55% of space volume can be achieved to park a similar number of vehicles.

environmentally friendly parking garageThis is achieved based upon not having to have:

  • The excessive entrance and exit area
  • Excessive Toll booth / ticketing space
  • Internal Ramps
  • Access roads in both directions to a car space
  • Elevators for patrons
  • Lost areas in turn-around bays & dead zones
(corners where two spaces are 90° to each other)
  • Fire exits / stairwells involved
  • Flexible stall heights and widths

This also has a direct relationship with underground parking where excavation requirements can be substantially reduced thus limiting the amount of soil to be removed and disposed.

Reduced Construction Schedule

With the footings and base slab laid and containers of U-ParkIt NA on site, the average time for construction and commissioning is:

100 Parking Spaces Days 200 Parking Spaces Days 500 Parking Spaces Days
Construction: Five Weeks 35 Seven Weeks 49 Three Months, 1 Week 97
Commission: Two Weeks 14 Three Weeks 21 Five Weeks 35
Total Time: Two Months 49 Three Months 70 Five Months 132

Rider Hunt, Quantity Surveyors, quote the ‘industry average’ time to build a conventional concrete garage of these sizes is from 9 to 12 months.

Achieves Maximum Project Density

Due to U-ParkIt NA’s innovative design, "virtual garages" can be fitted at any level to suit the client's requirements. This means a U-ParkIt NA system can ‘bottom load’ (normally for above ground parking), ‘top load’ (for underground parking) or load at middle levels to allow a combination of below and above ground parking. The options are limitless.

U-ParkIt NA becomes a highly flexible land use tool for property owners and developers. Nearly all other standard parking garages in the world need to be in place for many years. U-ParkIt NA can be installed, used for 5-7 years, then dismantled and relocated to another site dependant on the needs or values of the land area that is currently being used; and especially if the land is destined for future development. This is made possible by utilizing pre-fabricated steel beams that are linked together by a system of nuts, bolts and welds.

Green Benefits

U-ParkIt NA provides green parking solutions to address the increasing demand for environmentally conscious developments. Municipalities continue to legislate mandates for projects to meet higher levels of sustainability through LEED certification.

In order for city agencies to quantify a development’s sustainability they turn to the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system. U-Parkit has developed a parking system to address this environmental framework and provides developers, builders, designers and governing agencies with the opportunity for the following LEED solutions:

Reduced Pollution

Elimination of Toxic Emissions

Based on EPA data, it was found, that this technology, implemented for a 500 car garage on a yearly basis would:

    reduce pollution automatic parking
  • Save over 6,000 gallons of gasoline per year.
  • Eliminate 1,000 pounds of Hydrocarbons.
  • Eliminate 3.5 tons of Carbon Monoxide.
  • Eliminate 500 pounds of Nitrogen Oxides.
  • Eliminate over 60 tons of Carbon Dioxide.

Reduced Air Pollution

Because vehicles are turned off as soon as they enter the U-ParkIt NA system, there is no need to have expensive extraction systems operating to remove toxic gases. Resulting in lower power consumption, lower maintenance costs and the end of ventilation units pumping noxious CO2 fumes back into the atmosphere.

Water Conservation

U-ParkIt NA’s superior designs allow for maximum collection of storm water runoff. In California, almost 20% of the electricity and over 30% of the natural gas is used to treat, transport, and use water. So, when you save water, you save energy too!

Energy Savings

Lower Energy Requirements

The U-ParkIt NA energy requirements are calculated based on the number of Transversers required for any installation. Due to the superior electro-mechanical design, that electricity is consumed only when the parking system is physically parking or retrieving a vehicle. Electricity supply requirements can be as low as 63 amps depending on configuration and required speed. Other power wasting operations required on conventional concrete parking garages such as lighting for patrons, power for ventilation units and power for lifts to transport patrons are immediately removed with the U-ParkIt NA system.

Minimal internal lighting required for maintenance can be supplied (as per client request) using solar panels to battery backup. Additional emergency power can easily be supplied by using economical diesel generators to ensure continuous operation of the system if required. Also, because vehicles enter and exit at common points, outside lighting for patrons vehicles is negligible and of little cost to operators. The careful planning of this new technology also eliminates lighting otherwise required for associated walkways and stairs.
